Rev. David Norland

For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many. Mark 10:45

Devotional Life

My favorite daily devotion is Day by Day We Magnify Thee: Daily Readings by Martin Luther (Fortress Press 1982). These devotions are organized around church season themes with writings and prayers of Martin Luther.

If you're looking for help in witnessing your faith to others, here are some great resources:

To neighbors...

There is a Missouri synod site, Issues, Etc. and a Reformed site, White Horse Inn & Modern Reformation that offer good guidance on how to use current affairs to speak about God's promises.

To ELCA friends...

Exposing the ELCA keeps very current with the growing spiritual division within the ELCA. This site will show the need for standing on the Word alone, while awakening those who have not been alert to the radical changes taking place within the ELCA.

What translation of the Bible do I recommend?

The English Standard Version (ESV) is a far more faithful translation than the NIV (Reader's) or NRSV. The best study Bible is available from Concordia Publishing House. Look for The Lutheran Study Bible in the ESV translation.
